Step 1: Join the very long line in front of Levain Bakery, a NYC institution open in 1995, known for its cookies.
Step 2: Choose a cookie. Not as easy as it sounds. The cookies are a mix between a muffin, a cake and a cookie and not the cookie I’m used to. But I’m no New Yorker and this is very obviously the cookie of choice for the locals. So, when in NYC do as the locals do.
Step 3: Order a hot chocolate. They use Valrhona chocolate to create a beautifully rich and velvety drink only diminished by serving it in a paper cup.
Step 4: Take your cookie out of its paper bag and dip it into your hot chocolate.
Step 5: Thank me later.
