La Cabra is a tiny coffee house established in Aarhus, Denmark in 2012. Since then, they have expanded to Copenhagen and across borders to Bangkok, Oman and this serene and incredibly popular location in New York City. It has the kind of stunning, simple, decor, a palate of neutral colours and materials that forces all of your worries to stay at the door when you walk in, completely forget about them while emerged in this hygge cocoon and leave them behind when you leave.

Most are here for the coffee, which is expertly sourced and prepared, and for the danishes which you definitely cannot leave without ordering. The hot chocolate on offer is a beautiful dark chocolate made with beans from Thailand from the Chanthaburi region created by La Cabra (yes they make their own chocolate too!). They started with this origin in particular because they were inspired by Thailand and the region of Chanthaburi after opening their Bangkok location.

The hot chocolate was lovely, and the company was even better. I was brought here by chocolate sommelier Geneviève Leloup who brought along some of her creations: a line of truffles made with cacao pulp. She also makes cacao pulp caramels, ganache, and caramel drizzle.
