The hot chocolate, the 13th out of 21 that we had during the Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival, was made with a dark chocolate infused with rosemary and sea salt. This was paired with a brioche doughnut filled with dark chocolate custard, topped with chocolate ganache and candied rosemary white chocolate bark. Rosemary and dark chocolate is one of my favourite pairings and this one was delicious.
I’m not much of a sweet tooth but oh my gosh the donuts at Lucky’s are amazing. A sub brand of 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters, they decided to make fresh donuts with a focus on quality ingredients because what better combination that a good coffee with a good donut (and a very Canadian one at that). Everything is made from scratch everyday. You have the classics, glazed ring, Boston cream. But then there is creme brûlée Bismarck and blueberry earl grey and peanut butter jelly, oh and of course the apple bacon fritter! I guess I’m a donut fan now. I took no photos of all of these delicious donuts because I was sitting outside minding our table and was already sure I wasn’t going to be interested in these sweet creations. I was wrong. I’m sorry (but they have pictures on their website if you want to torture yourself…or order if you live in Vancouver).
