Many businesses were slow to open this morning due to the snow storm yesterday. Not Analog. Analog knew that people still needed their morning coffee (by people I mean my husband Rich). They started serving coffee in 2011 at Calgary Farmers Market and have grown from there, today with several locations across Calgary. Now that they seem to have converted Calgarians to good quality coffee, they have their sights set on conquering Vancouver. They offer different origin beans, different roasts, different brewing methods

Perhaps the most photogenic hot chocolate on our tour of the Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival, this little number from Analog Coffee was a dark chocolate infused with cayenne, cinnamon, tahini and ginger, topped with roasted sesame seeds. A generous sprinkling of mini marshmallows and a serving of lemon blond bar finish it off. We enjoyed it, but it was a bit too much of everything! A lighter touch with the flavours would have created an even better hot chocolate in our opinion, and a less sweet chocolate at the base. But the flavour combination was intriguing and enjoyable.

There was fresh snow outside this morning. A lot of fresh snow. Some locals were up even earlier than us, transforming this perfectly sticky snow into snow monsters. We enjoyed our hot chocolate on the terrace while watching the snow monsters and then trying to make our own.
